Sai Pallavi, the heart-throb girl who shot to the pinnacle of stardom following the success of Nivin Pauly-starrer Premam, is now a hot property of Telugu tinsel world.
The actor's role as Malar in Premam has been so entrenching that she evokes memories of the same character wherever she is spotted. For the same reason, she is considered as a Malayali actor by many among the Telugu audience too.
However, Sai Pallavi is not at all amused by the Malayali tag. She says that she is a Tamil girl and that she shouldn't be called a 'Mallu girl'.

Some Telugu magazines had recently brought out reports casting Sai as a Malayali. The media were abuzz with reports that she was in a relationship with a Tamil actor and that they would enter into a wedlock soon. More than the gossip, it was the mention casting her as Malayali that had irked her the most, it seems.
She is said to have expressed her displeasure when someone described her as a Malayali during a film promotion. Telugu media said that she was annoyed by the mention and had made it clear that she was a Tamilian. She said that she was born in Coimbatore and pleaded not to address her as a Malayali.
