Priyadarshan’s intention is not to make Maheshinte Prathikaram in Tamil and then show it to the Malayali audience, Sanooj said.The much awaited trailer of Nimir, the Tamil remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Maheshinte Prathikaram is finally out. Tollywood's youth star Udayanidhi Stalin plays the lead role in the remake directed by hit maker Priyadarshan.
The visuals in the newly released trailer hint that significant changes had been made in the narrative of the Malayalam original to satisfy the sensibilities and interests of the Tamil audience.
Though the trailer of Nimir is garnering generally positive reviews, online trollers are not ready to grab it so easily. Comments comparing it with Maheshinte Prathikaram are flooding below the trailer of Nimir.
Meanwhile, a movie enthusiast Sanooj Susheelan has posted a message as a reply for all those who criticize the trailer of Nimir. The post shared on the Facebook page of Cinema Paradiso Club is going viral on the social media.
Sanooj wrote, “Priyadarshan had once told that he was extremely heartbroken to see the Hindi version of Chitram, one of the highest grosser in Malayalam, which was remade by a Telugu director called Bappayya. That is how Priyadarshan had decided to remake Kilukkam in Hindi by himself. It was remade into Hindi as Muskurahat by Priyan starring Jai Mehta, son of Pranlal Mehta who was a wealthy producer in Bollywood. The movie was a disaster at the box office.”
Sanooj said that had it been any other director he would definitely have given up after the debacle of Muskurahat, but priyadarshan had assessed the failure of the movie with reason. He wrote, “Priyadarshan realized that he had not considered the sensibility of the audience while making the movie. The North Indian audiences are hardly like the Malayali audience. Things should be clearly explained to them. He realized that the problem was not with the theme of the movie but with his making style.”
Sanooj said that it was from the failures of his movies that Priyadarshan went on become one of the greatest hit makers of Bollywood. He added that Priyadarshan had garnered huge success by remaking many Malayalam super hit movies into Hindi.
“He saved Akshay Kumar’s sinking career and made him the endearing hero of family entertainers in contrary to his image as an action hero. Now Akshay’s star value is in crores. Priyadarshan even made Sunil Shetty who is a muscular hero do humor. Bollywood super stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan was ready to do movies with him. In his second outing in Bollywood, Priyadarshan had earned the respect of even Bollywood biggies like Shah Rukh Khan who addresses him as ‘sir’. Akshay Kumar reiterates that Priyan sir deserves the credit for his incredible success.”
Sanooj said that Nimir was remade by an experienced film maker like Priyadarshan, and those who criticize its trailer by comparing it with Maheshinte Prathikaram should understand that Priyadarshan’s intention was not to make Maheshinte Prathikaram in Tamil and then show it to the Malayali audience, and that Nimir was a commercial film in Tamil and it would do well in the box office if the Tamil audience likes it.
“Probably Malayali audience still see him only as a director who copies movies from other languages. Priyadarshan has already proven through many films that he is an inimitable talent whose movies are the perfect examples of amazing narrative style and technical perfection. Nimir too won’t change it,” said Sanooj in his Facebook post.
