South Indian actor Prakash Raj hade made voiciferous comments in the run-up to the recent Karnataka elections. He is back in the news again with another Karnataka issue, but one with ramifications in a neighbouring state.

The actor, who is always vocal about his thoughts be it politics, social concerns and matters related to movies, has now protested against the ban on Rajinikanth-starrer Kaala, which is set for release on June 7.

Pro-Kannada groups, who are riled up with Rajinikanth's recent comments on the Cauvery issue, has threatened to oppose the Tamil film's release in Karnataka. The Karantaka Film Chambers of Commerce has also banned the movie.

Talking to a media, Prakash Raj said, “It happened with 'Padmavat' and it happened with 'Durga'. What is this nonsense happening in this country? Now, an actor has given a statement and you hold him responsible for that – whether it’s right or wrong. Why does cinema become a soft target? Cinema is not about one actor here. Cauvery is a very emotional issue. But there is a way to protest. Now, this is a film and what does the producer do with it (the issue)? What about the thousands of workers who worked in it? What are you trying to disturb?”
