The humorous scenes were hilariously craftedThomas Sebastian’s third movie as a director revolves around a group of youngsters who are keen on doing nothing. The plot progresses through their attempts to start a business and the eventual plunge into a shady financial deal. As they meander from one lie to another, the audience is promised a laugh riot.
The movie begins and ends in roaring laughter. Do not be deceived by a brief interlude of sobriety. The second half is also designed to have you in splits.
Surprisingly, there are no ‘heroes’ in the movie. Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Sreenath Bhasi, Hareesh Kanaran and Vishnu gave each other tough competition as entertainers.
If Hareesh Kanaran held fort in the first half, Aju Varghese and Vishnu stole the show in the second half. Leading lady Niranjana had no big role to play but Mamta Mohandas made a commendable presence in a guest role.
Of course the movie is about a bunch of buddies but these brats are not here to eulogize friendship. They don’t miss a chance to pull their best friend’s legs.
Dhyan Sreenivasan’s story and screenplay prove the joke-worthiness of the movie scion but holes in the script were evident even through the end-to-end comedy. The moviemakers could have tightened the final sequences a bit.
The icing on the cake was the bubbly title song on the charms of Kozhikode, or should we say “Koyikkode”.
