In a veiled attack, Berbatov hits out at David James

Bulgarian star Dimitar Berbatov had a forgettable outing in the fourth edition of the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL). Berbatov, who was signed by Blasters coach Rene Meulensteen, could manage only one goal for the Yellow Brigade which failed to make it to the semifinals. Dutch coach Meulensteen, who had worked with Berbatov at Manchester United and Fulham, was sacked midway through the campaign and Englishman David James took over. The 37-year-old Berbatov was plagued by injuries and took the field in only nine out of the 18 games for Blasters.

Blasters fared much better under James and almost snatched a place in the play-off before losing their way in the last couple of matches. Now, an Instagram post of Berbatov hints all was not well between James and the striker.

Without mentioning James, Berbatov has ridiculed the tactics of the 'wannabe coach' of chipping straight to the strikers and asked who plays like that. His post added that the season was over for him.

Blasters have qualified for the inaugural Super Cup featuring the top-six teams from ISL and I-League in addition to the four qualifiers. If his post is to be believed, Berbatov will not be part of the Blasters' campaign in Super Cup.
