Coursegig, headed by Anitha Senthil, is an all-women's organisation that works towards providing assistance to students via their website.
Anitha Senthil, a graduate in Information Technology, hails from Palakkad. She has also completed her MBA in Human Resource Management.
She had begun her career as a freelance content writer. After a period of five years, she had entered the arena of academic writing. As an academic writer, Anitha had the opportunity to tutor many international students, especially from the U.S and the UK. This led to the creation of a website that proved beneficial to not only students, but also to her as well.
Coursegig - a module that is unlikely to fail
Anitha is confident about the business becoming successful. Coursegig had begun two years ago. At present there are eight teachers working along with her. Each of them have completed their higher education in a variety of subjects. This makes it convenient with regards to structuring a syllabus or clarifying queries pertinent to a particular topic. “I can provide help to those who seek assistance in a few science related subjects and IT. In case I am unable to clarify those queries, I am not worried. For I have a team of qualified teachers who would be able clear those doubts effectively,” explains Anitha.
When asked about the levels of competition in the arena, she said, “Our website is different. We, unlike many others, try to provide 24x7 tutors online as well. The students can not only seek our guidance regarding certain subjects but can also clarify their doubts.” Coursegig hopes to provide an online book centre for students as well in the days to come. Anitha's younger sister is a web developer and has been assisting her with the incorporation of the website.
Word of mouth – the most effective means of marketing
Anitha said that the firm has benefited immensely from social media portals such as Facebook. “But I have many students from various Universities in the USA and UK. I am sure that my students will spread the word and help me publicise the enterprise,” she explained.
Starting out with the Startup Village
Coursegig has recently registered themselves with the Startup Village and are likely to complete the incorporation process soon. “The experience has been great. At first, I didn't consider making it into a full fledged enterprise. But with support from Startup Village, I have been able to the all that is necessary for a good future. The eight teachers, who work with me, are housewives. This venture has benefited them as well,” said Anitha. The firm is at present looking around for office space and is striving towards making their venture a commercial success.
