The elevation stands majestically on a raised plot of land. Visually stunning, this 3,500 sq ft “holiday house” was built to hold friends and family especially when they were back home from their workplaces abroad. It was explicitly designed with the intention of housing and entertaining loved ones, the more, the merrier. When a house is thought of, the desires and concepts of each member will have to be reckoned with. It was with a whole list of ideas that Puttadiyil Kadandose Antony set about designing and planning his house located near Kumily.
Antony bought the picturesque 28.5 cents of land by the side of a hillock with a definite intention. The house would be too large a prospect for Antony and wife and their son Jiss Jose and his family. But the couple had three other sons, all settled or working abroad. He wanted all of them under one roof, come holidays. Hence, this mini-palace. Antony’s wish prevailed and the designer got the house ready with all top-class amenities complementing the beauty of its exterior.
The house is flanked on all side by lush greenery and beautiful natural landscaping. The holiday home can easily house four large families. The structure itself reminds one of those sprawling colonial-style American homes. It’s flanked on all side by lush greenery and beautiful natural landscaping. The balconies and bay windows enhance the exterior looks. The vaasthu-style pillars in the sit-out, car porch and balcony are a new style in architecture. They add substance to the structure.
A long sit-out, a formal living-cum-dining space, a modern kitchen, a second kitchen and a store are the highlights of the ground floor. GI Truss covers the flat roofs. Plano concrete roof tiles have been laid over them. These tiles are quite sturdy and can withstand strong winds. They can also be easily cleaned once the rains are over.
The house gets its classic interior looks from the partitions done up in Arabian style. White, black and grey shades have been used inside to go with the contemporary architectural style inside. The two-storied house has five bedrooms, all with attached bathrooms. The paneling in hardwood gives a touch of class to the interiors.
The floor up offers a stunning view of the panoramic scene outside. A living space with long windows and balconies are the main features on the upper floor. Apart from the car porch in the front, there are more car parking facilities in the cellar.
