Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam film-maker Jude Anthany Joseph, against whom a police case was filed for verbally abusing Kochi mayor, has rejected the allegations.
Jude's version
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Jude has given his version of the events that led to the case.
Jude said he had approached Soumini Jain for her permission to shoot a film on atrocities against women and children at the Subhash Park in Kochi. He also informed her that actor Nivin Pauly had agreed to do the film for free.
Director Jude Anthany challenges Kochi mayor, slapped with police case
"But then, the mayor said she wanted an order from the government before she can give the go-ahead. As per this, I met health minister K.K. Shylaja, who gave me a letter urging the mayor to consider this as a special case. However, when I met the mayor next, she accused me of trying to insult her by making the minister interfere in the case. I apologized to her and urged her to join me in this good initiative," he explained.
"When she did not relent, I said that I will raise my voice against this. Then I left the office. I later shot my movie at a park of the Cochin Port Trust.
"When I came to know that a police case was registered against me, I went to meet her again for conciliatory talks. But she asked me to publicly apologize to her," Jude said in his post.
The Om Shanti Oshana-fame director also apologized to his family for needlessly causing concern for them. He concluded the post by saying that he 'will never ever work' for a social cause.
