Pleasure trip turns tragic: man killed as car driven by his wife knocks him down Ashok Sukumaran Nair.

Munnar: In a tragic accident, a man was killed when his bicycle was knocked down by a car driven by his wife in the hill station where the family from Bengaluru had come for a holiday trip.

The victim was an IT professional, Ashok Sukumaran Nair, 35, from Malayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram. The accident occurred near Vaguvarai on the Munnar-Marayur road around 7 pm on Friday.

Ashok, a cycling enthusiast, had brought his cycle from Bengaluru to the hill station. Ashok was riding the cycle, and his wife and children - Sraddha, 7, and Shreya, 5, - followed him right behind in the car. The children wanted to listen to music and as Reshmi switched on the system, she briefly lost control of the car. The car then knocked down Ashok.

Reshmi rushed an unconscious Ashok to the Tata Tea General Hospital in Munnar but he was declared dead on arrival.

The family was settled in Harlur, Bengaluru. They had reached Munnar on Friday morning. Reshmi, who is from Thiruvalla, is also an IT professional.
