Kochi: Young Malayalam actor Asif Ali on Thursday denied making derogatory comments against his colleague Dileep, who has been arrested for allegedly conspiring the attack on an actress in Kochi.
"Dileep has been a well-wisher of mine," Asif Ali told Manorama News. “I said I can't act with Dileep because I find it difficult to face him now," he said. Rubbishing the reports that appeared in some online portals regarding Asif Ali calling Dileep a "heinous" person, the Anuraga Karikkinvellam star said he still wished that Dileep was not a culprit in the case.

Asif Ali said the ongoing controversies have affected flow of moviegoers to theaters.
On the suggested generational change in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), Asif Ali said he was not in favor of it. "AMMA has a seasoned leadership. The younger generation lacks experience in organizational affairs," he said.
Debates on the structural change in AMMA were triggered by Dileep's arrest which forced the outfit to do a volte-face. The association, which had said it would stand by Dileep and the attacked actress alike, was forced to oust Dileep from it after his arrest.
There were reports that a section of young actors was not happy with the current leadership and would seek a change in the association's top brass.
