The 25-year-old man, wearing only an underwear, barged into the woman's flat around 2.30 pm and attacked her. He was in an inebriated state. Frightened, the woman cried aloud and her neighbors, who rushed to the flat on hearing her cries, caught hold of the youth. Later, the police took him into custody.
The youth told the police that he hailed from Kollam. He was subjected to medical tests.
The police also recorded the statement of the woman, who has been admitted to a hospital at Kadavanthra.
