Muhamma (Alappuzha): The violent crime did justice to the name of the place where it occurred: an inebriated man bit off the finger of a policewoman near Rowdymukku, Muhamma, Thursday night.

The victim was identified as Minimol, civil officer at Cherthala police station. She was returning home after shopping along with her husband, Shaji. She said three people were sitting beside a shop and they attacked them claiming she flashed her scooter's headlight on their face.

Minimol said the culprits were drunk and used harsh words on them. While she took her mobile to inform the police, one of them tried to snatch her mobile and bit her finger. The culprits escaped after the incident and the police registered a case against them.
