Kochi: Actress Manju Warrier has been reportedly named as one of the witnesses in the charge sheet in the February 17 actress attack case, in which her former husband and actor Dileep is an accused.
As the probe team submits the subsidiary charge sheet in the case that slaps charges of gang-rape and conspiracy on him, a look at why Manju's name is doing the rounds and how relevant it is to the case.
The probe team has listed eight reasons that prompted Dileep to commit the crime. Dileep wanted to wreak vengeance after his first marriage with Manju Warrier ended in a divorce. He presumed that the actress had a role in the marital discord and conspired to attack her, the charge sheet said.
The police retraced the run-up to the abduction and harassment of the actress after interrogating about 15 people close to Dileep or prime accused Pulsar Suni.
4-year-old conspiracy
The police had earlier said Dileep had started plotting the heinous crime in 2013. Dileep had confronted the actress in a hotel in Ernakulam during a rehearsal for a show organized by the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). He was cross because he believed that the actress had told his then wife Manju Warrier about his alleged affair with Kavya Madhavan.
As the spat turned ugly, other actors including Siddique intervened. Pulsar Suni was also witness to the commotion. He was there as Mukesh’s driver.

Dileep and Manju got separated in 2015 and the actor married Kavya Madhavan in 2016.
Though it was not known what information Manju had regarding the case, it is interesting to note the actress was Dileep's wife when the conspiracy was allegedly first hatched?
Manju was first to speak of conspiracy
During a meet of the AMMA held in the wake of the actress attack on February 20, a day after the nightmarish incident, Manju Warrier had alleged a criminal conspiracy behind the attack.
