The 'Imbam' training and rehabilitation center built by Malayala Manorama to mark its 50 years in Kozhikode was dedicated to the public by collector U V Jose and Medical College principal Dr V R Rajendran on Monday.
The keys of the training and rehabilitation center was handed over by Malayala Manorama assistant editor and director Harsha Mathew to palliative care worker and footprints trainer Shamir Chennamangallur, who is also a representative of the patients.
Imbam will be a great value addition to palliative care, said VR Rajendran. Councilor M M Padmavati presided over the function.
The center will work towards training patients who are confined to bed with spinal problems and bringing them back to life. It will also serve as a support group for such people.
The project was announced on December 1, 2016, to mark the 50 years of the establishment of Malayala Manorama in Kozhikode. Designed by Stapati Architects, it was built at a cost of Rs 50 lakh and handed over to the IPM. Those present during the function included patients, palliative care workers and doctors.
