A yellow alert has been issued for Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts on Sunday.
The IMD issued alerts in eight districts - Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Rains, however, continued to elude Delhi as the city has so far recorded 148.2 mm of rainfall against a normal of 149.7 mm since June 1.
A yellow alert was declared in six districts including Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Tuesday.
The IMD further said widespread rain was likely in the southern state over the next four days with very heavy rains predicted on July 13 and 14.
Monsoon has picked up force steadily in Kerala in the last fortnight after a lacklustre opening spell in June. A yellow alert has been sounded in all districts except Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.
Kerala has been witnessing a spell of heavy rain these past few days.
In Idukki, the holiday applies to Anganwadis and nurseries as well. However, tests and interviews will be held as scheduled.
Orange alert has been declared in Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thrissur and Idukki districts on Monday.
Kerala received 260.7 mm rainfall as against 577.8 mm as per its long period average (minus 55 per cent).
