The Kilikollur thrashing is only the latest in a string of incidents that pull the veil on the waywardness of the police.
The medical college superintendent has informed police that the visuals of only 12 days are retained on the hard disk, following which new visuals overwrite the old ones.
Earlier, it was alleged that the police was delaying the case, helping the accused to flee. However, in order to stave off criticism, the police ramped up their efforts to nab the culprits. Following this, the party urged stringent action against the police.
The incident allegedly happened on September 13 when the lawyer reached the Kozhikode District Court to file a private petition in the assault case.

K Arun, a DYFI state committee member, is the prime accused in the case which has listed 8 suspects in total.
Though the police, the relatives of the accused and the party leadership are maintaining that all the accused are at large, it is now learned that four of the accused had stayed inside the city even after committing the crime.
Sujeesh and Surya were friends for a long time. However, both fell out over some issue, which eventually led to the murder, said police upon preliminary investigation.
Three other accused are absconding. The activists have been booked under non-bailable sections.
The arrested are T Amal, 23, and M V Akhil, 25, both members of the Payyanur North regional committee of the DYFI.
