Kochi: The Thiruvananthapuram-New Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram Kerala Express will stop at Ernakulam Town railway station (North) from May 9 onwards.
At present, the train towards Thiruvananthapuram halts only at Ernakulam Junction (South) and the service to New Delhi has its stop at Town station as well as the Junction station. This has been causing major confusion among passengers, who had demanded that the train should have scheduled stops at the same station in both directions.
Considering the passengers' sentiments, the service to Thiruvananthapuram will have a stop at Ernakulam Town station. Even though the arrangement is till August 22 owing to track maintenance work, it will be made a permanent stop later.
With engine change no longer required at South station, Kerala Express would save 30 minutes on its running time in its journey to Thiruvananthapuram.
