Sumina, who is a resident of Keralapuram near Kundara, was attacked by Nishad, 30, on Saturday at a rented house at Edavattom where she was staying with her parents, the police said.
Nishad was overpowered by the neighbours and handed over to the police. He has been admitted to the Kollam District Hospital.
The couple were living separately for the last few months.
The crime took place around 8 pm when Nishad went to Sumina's house. Nishad stabbed his wife with a sharp knife in a fit of rage after an altercation.
Sumina's parents and few neighbours went near the couple on hearing her cries and tried to stop Nishad from attacking her further. Though she was rushed to a private medical college, she succumbed to injuries around 2 am on Sunday.
The duo has no issue.
