Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram: Saturday dawned lucky for auto rickshaw driver Jayakumar. The 44-year-old Attingal native won the first car in Malayala Manorama lucky diamonds draw.
Lady luck smiled at a time when Jayakumar had been going through many hardships. He had suffered a spinal injury and was bedridden for six months after he fell from the second floor of a building, where he was working as a mason. That forced him to seek a new occupation, auto rickshaw driving.
Jayakumar had also incurred debt after rebuilding his ancestral home. He had earlier won a Manorama lucky ball contest also.
His wife Rakhimol is a temporary staff at the Kerala State Financial Enterprises.
