The state government’s annual revenue from selling quarter bottles is a whopping ₹650 crore.
The fire broke out around 8 pm at the warehouse located near the Travancore Sugar Factory.
The attack occurred on Friday amid ongoing public protests over the outlet's relocation from Chamravattom junction to Puzhambram in Ponnani.
Typically, outlets operate from 10 am to 9 pm.
The opposition has alleged graft in the decision of the state cabinet to proceed with the project.
On Christmas Day alone, Rs 54.64 crore worth of alcohol was sold through beverage outlets, a 6.84% increase from Rs 51.14 crore in 2023.
Bevco outlets will close today at 7 pm on Monday for stock-taking purposes.
On Uthradam alone, Rs 124 crore worth of alcohol was sold.
According to the figures released by BEVCO, liquor worth Rs 701 crore was sold nine days until Uthradam, compared to Rs 715 crore last year.
BEVCO’s employee-friendly move comes as the government earned Rs 5,000 crore in tax revenue from liquor sales.
