Opposition leaders lashed at the Kerala government for resorting to vendetta politics on Tuesday.
The police arrived at the Youth Congress leader's home in Pathanamthitta to register the arrest.
The Congress MP said the activists did not have the permission of the leadership to organise such a protest.
BJP district president Adv K K Aneesh alleged that Congress MP TN Prathapan and police official Alavi conspired in the protest.
Koyilandy native Lineesh was taken into custody while he was packing dinner for his ailing mother.
Both Congress and Youth Congress workers staged a protest against the attack on the office.
He also accused the police force of being run by a 'manipulators' gang' which functions from the chief minister's office.
Youth Congress state president Rahul Mamkootathil quipped that the petitioner could purchase an apartment and a car with the discount granted to him.
The incident occurred during the Nava Kerala Sadas on December 15.
The Congress on Wednesday launched a series of agitations across the state against the ruling front .
