Kannur: Some inmates of Kannur Central Jail have been found to be receiving 'special' items 'flown' into the premises from outside the wall. A pack containing 20 bundles of beedi, halwa and almond was the latest to be found tossed in and they were found near the hospital block inside the jail.
At the same time, visuals have emerged of two people throwing liquor bottles into the jail premises from outside. Jail authorities searched for the bottles inside the premises, but could not find any.
There were reports earlier of liquor, beedi, etc. being hurled into the jail from the alley near the special sub-jail attached to the Central Jail. The jail superintendent said more wardens have been assigned security duty in this area and a new gate has been opened to beef up security.
