Looks like Fahadh Faasil and co. are on a mission to bring ‘theppu’ (ironing) into the mainstream. For the uninitiated, ‘theppu’ in new-gen Malayalm lingo is a phenomenon in which a girl dumps her boyfriend for the most ridiculous and superficial reasons. A girl who engages in ‘theppu’ is called ‘theppukari’ (ironing women).
Apparently, the slang terms were made pretty popular by social media pages and now, Faasil junior has taken it upon himself to make it to the echelons of global fame.
In a new video song from his upcoming movie Role Models, a rock band, including the actor and his friends, viz., Vinay Forrt, Vinayakan and Sharafudheen, is seen performing a soup song, which encompasses a comprehensive picture of the ‘theppu’ phenomenon.
The lyrics details the plight of a jilted lover, who is now pretty much like a burnt dosa. The ‘theppukari’ in the said song is Namitha Pramod.
Penned by B. Harinarayanan and composed by Gopi Sunder, the song has crossed 2.7 lakh views on YouTube in just one day. Interestingly, Gopi-Harinarayanan combo had invited a lot of trolls for their songs in Sathya.
Role Models brings Fahadh and director Rafi together for the first time. Apart from Vinayakan, Vinay Forrt and Sharafudheen, Srindha and Renji Panicker appear in supporting roles. The movie is expected to hit the screens around Eid.
