My family not happy with Kevin's financial status: Neenu points fingers at her parents Neenu has said that she would stay at Kevin's house and will not return to her parents' place.

Kottayam: A day after her fiance was murdered in a suspected case of 'honour killing' in Kerala's Kollam district, Neenu Chacko, a student at a college in Kottayam, has pointed fingers at her parents for orchestrating the murder.

Her brother, Sanu Chacko, is the main accused in the case. Sources close to the police said the instructions to kill Kevin was issued with the knowledge of Neenu's parents. The police on Tuesday arrested Neenu's father Chacko and her brother Sanu Chacko in connection with the incident.

According to police, 23-year-old Kevin P Jospeh was kidnapped and murdered by a gang of 13 hired by Neenu's relatives.

"My parents were not happy with the financial status of Kevin. They are also involved in the murder. I left home after my family came to know about my relationship," an emotional Neenu told Manorama News on Tuesday.

"Even though I am not legally married, I am Kevin's wife. I will stay at his house only. I will look after his parents and sister. I will not return even if my parents call me back," she said.

Kevin's father Rajan too said he would protect Neenu from now on.

The woman's relatives were allegedly upset with her for going against their wishes. The woman belongs to a wealthy family in Kollam district while Kevin, hailing from Kumaranallore near here, was not affluent.

'Conspiracy behind murder'

Meanwhile, Kevin's father has alleged a conspiracy behind the brutal murder. He also said he suspected CPM workers' role in the murder.

"Neenu's relatives were in Kottayam for days before the incident. Her brother had come and met me before the incident. He had come to meet me in the same Innova car that was later used for the abduction."

Relatives of Kevin P Joseph alleged that he was abducted and killed by the gang engaged by his fiancee's brother, two days after they filed a joint application for marriage registration at a sub-registrar office near here.

My family not happy with Kevin's financial status: Neenu points fingers at her parents Kevin's body was found floating in a river in Kollam on Monday.

The killing has triggered widespread protests by the Congress and other opposition parties in Kottayam district. The BJP and UDF called for a hartal in the district on Tuesday.
