Thiruvalla/Mavelikkara: An elderly woman who went missing two years ago was finally traced by her children, thanks to a program telecast on the 'Manorama News' channel.
The face of Shanthamma (74) of Panmana Mullakkeri Shanthalayam was flashed when the channel was airing the program on Christmas celebrations held by school children at the Thalavadi Anaprambal Snehabhavan.
Her son, Bahuleyan, was watching the program on TV and that glimpse was enough for him to recognize his mother.
He contacted Manorama News and rushed to Snehabhavan along with sister Lakshmi Jyothish and Shanthamma’s brother, Vishvambharan Nair, to take her home.

Shanthamma was living with her younger daughter and husband at the family home. She had become mentally unstable after the death of her husband, Damodaran Nair, on 2015 August 15.
On 2015 September 30, she had left for the house of a daughter who lives at Thattarambalam in Mavelikkara.
She took a bus and got down at somewhere else.
She couldn’t find the way back home and that aggravated a slight memory problem she already had.
Shanthamma stayed at the Oachira temple for a few days. From there, she reached the Dayabhavan in Arunoottimangalam and then the Snehabhavan four months ago.
Meanwhile, her children had been searching for their mother. They had looked for her in many temples in Kerala and outside, including Palani and Mookambika, and filed a complaint at the Panmana police station.
Recently, students from Thalavady VHSS and Father Peroorkalam Central School held a Christmas program with the inmates of Snehabhavan. That was the program that Manorama News aired.
Shanthamma reunited with her children in the presence of Snehabhavan secretary Jhonykutty Thuruthel and panchayat member Ajith Kumar Pisharat.
