Photo: IFFKThiruvananthapuram: "The 'real-life actors' can deliver better justice to their characters than established actors," said national award winning director Jayaraj at an International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) event at Tagore theatre on Monday.
Pointing out successful examples from his experiments, Jayaraj said his films which featured actors from the real-life has always been received tremendous response.
"Actors are set in a mould, while with first-timers, I am able to touch the human inside," said Jayaraj, whose IFFK film Ottaal, also uses non-actors, including a fisherman. The director said that it was painful life experiences that helped him depict loving and lovable characters in his films.
Director V.K. Prakash, who was attending the function, too agreed that non-actors were "fresh, credible and easier to work with".
Jayaraj was speaking at the 'Meet the Director' programme with V.K. Prakash and his crew from his IFFK film Nirnaayakam, cinematographer Shehnad Jalal and actor Mukundan. Kazak actor Aikyn Kalykov, Director P.S. Manu and Producer P.V. Gangadharan were also present.
