Charlie Chaplin (L) and Francois Truffaut Panaji: The movies of two of the world cinema's biggest legends Charlie Chaplin and Francois Truffaut- would be screened in the restored classics section of the International Film Festival of India here.
'A Woman of Paris' (1923) and 'Limelight' (1952), produced and directed by Chaplin, would be showcased during the 11-day-long festival.
The organisers have curated a special section for the screening of these restored classics from black and white era.
"Chaplin is indisputably the greatest cinema legend the world has ever known. As an actor who combined comedy and poignancy like no one else before or since, his work has defined the potential of film entertainment for all times, and for the whole world," IFFI organisers said while introducing the section in the festival's souvenir.
'A Woman of Paris' is the story of a comedian's effort to help a despondent ballet dancer learn to feel confident about life again.
The 1952 classic 'Limelight' is about a woman who misunderstands her lover and later commits suicide after going through a turbulent life as she has to chose between true love and security.
Besides, two films- 'The Last Metro' (1980) and 'The Wild Child' (1969)- of French movie legendFrancois Truffaut would also be screened in the restored classics section.
"Truffaut, a timeless icon, spearheaded one of the world's most influential film movements. His vision continues to illuminate the way for many filmmakers around the world to this day, 30 years after his death," the organisers said about the filmmaker who passed away in 1984.
'The Last Metro' is a story of love and adventure, set in 1942 in Paris, in the theatre world during the German occupation just as the French zone is about to be invaded.
'The Wild Child' is set in the late 1700s and is the story of a child who spent the first 11-12 years of his life with little or no human contact.
