Kochi: Opening up new avenues of cultural tourism, as many as 30 bloggers from 21 countries visited the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) and derived inspiration to narrate the artistic experience about India’s only show of its kind. With this the ongoing festival in this city is set to gain a fresh round of global publicity.
The team, under a joint expedition called Kerala Blog Express 2.0, visited the Aspinwall House venue of KMB’14 in Fort Kochi on Tuesday amid their two-week tour of the state to promote and compile the scope and diversity of Kerala Tourism in an online platform.
Kerala Blog Express is a state Tourism Department initiative which selects ace bloggers from around the world on a fortnight’s road trip across ‘God’s Own Country’ to discover the beauty of the peninsular strip and experience its unique as well varied culture.
The mission is to “write about their own experiences gained through travels and exploring places”, says team member Rosemary Anne Neavi, a veteran blogger from New Zealand.
The 30 bloggers, who got selected using an online voting scheme by the campaign management team of Kerala Tourism, also includes photographers and writers. All of them are shortly expected to cater the wonders of Aspinwall House KMB exhibits to the world through their blog posts .

— Kerala Tourism (@KeralaTourism) March 10, 2015“Of course the artworks here give a whole new dimension to our thinking process,” guesh 63-year-old Rosemary. “For, each one of us writes about our own perspective towards a work, one can expect a lot of interesting stories in our site about this biennale.”
Explaining her own experience of KMB’14, Rosemary said the biennale has been “outstanding” going by way it has experimented and reconstructed art. “The artists seems to have played with ideas, challenged the old concepts and produced some amazing creative works,” added the traveller, who is has been prompted to extend her stay at Kochi by five days after having seen the biennale.
A previous edition of Blog Kerala had 27 writers from 14 countries. This year’s participants include two Indians. Three are from Spain and Italy each and two each are from United States, Poland, United Kingdom, Philippines. There is a participant each from Brazil, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, Uruguay, Mexico, Czech Republic, Greece, Israel, France, Indonesia, South Africa, New Zealand and Bulgaria.
In the course of the maiden Kerala Blog Express, the campaign micro site (http://keralablogexpress.com/) recorded 2.5 lakh page views from all over the world. On Twitter, the 27 participants tweeted more than 8,000 times using the hashtag #KeralaBlogExpress.

In fact, more than 250 blog posts have been written on the subject. The details of the Kerala Blog Express 2.0 are also being shared on the official microsite. More than 2.2 lakh page views were recorded during this year’s registration and voting period.

It created a significant buzz worldwide about Kerala as a tourist destination. The second season, with added attractions, is expected to help reap benefits of the impact that the first edition created and sustain the momentum in the tourism sector and announce the world about KMB.
