A controversy has emerged in Wayanad regarding alleged cracks in houses built for Mundakkai–Chooralmala landslide survivors, with Revenue Minister K Rajan classifying them as minor surface marks, while a survivor, Noufal K T, a construction labourer, insists they are structural. Rajan, after an inspection of the 178 houses at Elstone Estate, stated the cracks were superficial and announced additional safety tests would be conducted before handover, assuring survivors that their concerns would be addressed and financial assistance of ₹9,000 per person daily would be disbursed soon. Noufal, dissatisfied with the minister's assessment and referencing past issues with Puthumala landslide housing, expressed concerns about the structural integrity and urged for greater care from the construction society, ULCCS, despite many survivors being hesitant to speak out due to trauma.
