A musical peek into the life of 'Tevye' A classic musical based on the short story 'Tevye and his daughters' will be staged at JT PAC

Kochi: A classic musical based on the short story 'Tevye and his daughters' will be staged at JT PAC, Cochin on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 7 PM.

Directed by Bangalore based Leila Alvares, the musical based on the story by Sholom Aleichem, 'Fiddler on the Roof' has been one of the most successful musicals since its original production in 1964.

A unique combination of melody and peppy dialogue, the musical English drama will take a peek into the life of 'Tevye and his family' in the midst of familiar musical tracks, beautifully done up stage props and fine direction.

The 1971 film adaption of the musical starring Chaim Topol went on to win several awards including three Academy Awards.

The musical is presented by a popular Bangalore based theatre group, CAUSE Foundation. The 35 member team includes Bangalore’s finest singers, actors and dancers who will also perform live songs during the play.

Besides old favorites like Prem Koshy, Arvind Kasthuri and Priya Mendens, youngsters like Alisha D’Souza, Rahael Mathews and others are set to rock Cochin with superb, live musical backing from the likes of Carol Britto, Keanu, Ashish Paul and Vivek Menzel.

Leila Alvares, the Founder-President of the CAUSE Foundation who has been staging musicals like 'Grease', 'My Fair Lady', 'Hello Dolly', 'Sound of Music', 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers', 'All Shook Up', says, “The cast includes medical professionals, lawyers, advertising professionals and students, all of who have a common passion – theatre.”

The foundation which promotes local talent by providing them with a platform, has been supporting underprivileged by donating surplus funds to struggling charities.

The Musical which has a duration of 120 minutes is open for all age groups.
